frequently asked questions (and answers)
- can my child room with his/her teammates? heck, yeah! since cross country really is a team sport, one of the main points of camp is to bond with teammates. campers will be grouped with their teammates in the cabins.
- what is the ratio of counselors to campers? we have at least one counselor in each cabin with about 16 campers. In addition we have at least eight senior counselors and coaches who oversee all activities.
- can my child just do one of the two daily runs? yes! an injured runner isn’t a very fast (or happy) runner, so we don’t want any overuse injuries. we have running-in-the-pool workouts during both the morning and afternoon runs. if your camper doesn’t want to do one of the runs, he or she will do a non-impact running workout in the pool with one of the coaches instead.
- my child already had a physical in the past 12 months. can we send in that form instead of the medical clearance form? sure. as long as we have a cleared-for-activity form signed by a doctor or nurse from later than september 1, 2011, that requirement is satisfied.
- what time should i arrive and leave camp? arrive at camp cayuga between 3:30-4:00 on august 16. please do not arrive earlier as there is another camp that will be leaving and it creates chaos! leave camp between 11:00am-12:00pm on august 21. lunch will be served on august 21.
- do you have a payment plan? sure. once you have paid the nonrefundable $100 deposit, we will hold your place. you may send payments up until august 10, 2012.
- how do i know you’ve received my registration? if your check has been deposited, we have received payment. beginning in july, we will be sending emails on a weekly basis to those campers who still need to turn in either payment, medical release form or parental release form. we will also be sending emails on a weekly basis to those campers whose registrations are complete. we do not email every camper each time we receive a piece of their registration, but trust us, you will be alerted to any part of registration that you are lacking.
- My child will be in 8th grade in the fall, can she come to camp? No. Sleepaway camp is only for athletes entering 9th- 12th grade.
