Chris Bennett was NJ State Champion in the 800m and XC. He was 1st Team All State in XC in ’93. At CBA, Bennett was a part of 4 nationally ranked XC teams and the anchor leg of the runner up DMR at the National Championships. He was also the anchor leg on the All American 4×800 Relay team in 1994. An 8 time Monmouth County, 4 time Shore Conference champion, Bennett attended UNC where he captained the Tar Heels’ XC and Track teams. He ran 5 years for the Olympic Development Nike Farm Team running 3:43 for 1500m. Chris teaches and coaches at CBA in Lincroft, NJ.
Tammie Bennett was a 2 time NC State Champion in XC. She has held NC age group records for the 5k and 10k distance for over 20 years. While on the University of North Carolina XC and Track teams she earned All-ACC honors in the 3000m, 5000m and 10,000m runs. She later competed for the Olympic Development Nike Farm Team based at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. Tammie has a 5k PR of 16:50. She coaches cross country and track at St Leo the Great in Lincroft, NJ.
Tom Heath is in his 40th year as coach of the nationally ranked Christian Brothers Cross Country and Track teams. His XC dual meet record is 328-7 including a streak of 297 consecutive dual wins (a national record). He has coached teams to 269 Varsity XC Invitational wins, 15 NJ All Group Titles in XC, 2 Penn Relay Championship Of America Distance Medleys, and 2 Fifth Avenue Mile winners. Heath is the most successful XC and Track coach in NJ history.
John Nagel coaches at St. Dominic Academy. He has coached his teams to 36 Hudson County Titles (XC & Track), 72 Jersey City Team Titles (XC + Track), and 70 HCIAA Team Titles (XC + Track). Coach Nagel has been with this camp for over 20 years!
Sean McCafferty was NJ State Champion in Track and Cross Country, He competed for Princeton University. Sean teaches and coaches at Holmdel High School and has been named Monmouth County Coach of the Year. One of his athletes, George Galasso, qualified for and competed at the 2008 Foot Locker National Championships.
Melanie Bauman, previously the girls’ assistant cross country and track & field coach at Red Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, NJ, is currently the boys’ assistant cross country and track & field coach at Ridge View High School in Columbia, SC. Highlights as a coach at RBC include County and Shore Conference team titles. She was a member of RBC’s XC State Championship team in ‘96 when the team captured their third straight MOC title and were honored with All-American status. Melanie attended the University of South Carolina and has a bachelor degree in Sports Management. She is currently pursuing a career in physical therapy. She is a USAT&F certified Level I coach. Melanie participates in local road races ranging from the 5k to the half marathon. She believes Bennett Camp is the best way to end the summer.

Each cabin will have at least one junior counselor who is a current college runner. Past counselors have run for Princeton, Rutgers, Georgetown, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Dartmouth, and many more.
